REMOTE PATIENT MONITORING (RPM)

Remote patient monitoring (RPM) is a method of providing healthcare services using technology to monitor patients’ health outside a traditional clinical setting.
RPM is a specific technology used to electronically transmit health-related information between patients and their physicians; this is just one delivery system currently being used in the broader telehealth industry. The next trend in RPM technology is miniaturisation. Device manufacturers are making their solutions smaller and less invasive while establishing partnerships with new players to increase their market share. In other words, in remote patient monitoring digital technologies are used to remotely monitor patients’ health conditions.

This allows healthcare providers to monitor the optimal conditions of patients and collect their data, regardless of where they are – at home, at work or on holiday and therefore out of their habitual residence.
